Privacy Policy for Applicants
tesa takes the protection of your personal data very seriously and processes your personal data in accordance with national and European data protection provisions. We would like to inform you about the way we collect and process personal data when you apply for one of our open positions.
Data Controller
The tesa affiliate to which you have applied is responsible for the data processing of your application.
You will find the relevant contact details in the imprint of the job advertisement for which you have applied.
Data required for the application process and applicant selection
As part of the application process, we process data from you that we need to decide whether to establish the employment relationship. In particular, this includes your contact details, such as your name and address, as well as all data related to the application, such as your CV, certificates, qualifications, answers to questions.
tesa processes your personal information in connection with the online application via our application management system and also to assess your potential work-related applicability. In doing so, we process the information you provide based on the legal basis of contract preparation/decision to enter into a contract. If you voluntarily provide us with additional personal data, we process this on the basis of your revocable consent.
Also, we process personal data for statistics and reporting purposes in accordance with our legitimate interest of following up and reporting on the applications received for the open positions.
Data source
We only process the personal data that you provide to us within the application process.
Data retention
If there is no legal retention period, the data will be erased as soon as it is no longer necessary to store it or the legitimate interest in storing it has expired.
When applying via our career website/ our application management system, your personal application data will be retained after the conclusion of the application process if this is necessary to protect our legitimate interests in the legitimate interest of warding off any legal claims, but no later than 6 months after the position has been filled.
If your application is successful, tesa will further process your personal data and will inform you appropriately in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Recipients of your data
The access to our Application Management System is restricted only to authorized tesa EU/ Switzerland/ UK personnel based on a need-to-know-basis according to their specific function.
For our application management system, we use the service provider Recruitee, with whom we also signed a Data Processing Agreement.

If necessary, we may also disclose data to further trusted third party service providers who support us, for example, in the areas of IT or archiving and destruction and with whom separate contracts for data processing have been concluded.
As far as this is necessary, we make sure that appropriate data protection agreements and transfer mechanisms (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses), if applicable, are in place with the third parties.
You can also submit your application via external job search platforms (as Indeed or Stepstone). For more information please consult the privacy policies of the platforms you are using.
Data security
We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk. Your online application is transferred in encrypted form according to the current state of the art.
Your rights
As a data subject, you have the right of access to personal data concerning you , as well as the right to rectification to have inaccurate data corrected . You also have the right to erasure, e.g., if the data is no longer needed for the aims pursued. Furthermore, you have the right to restriction of processing and, the right to data portability. If the processing of data is based on your consent, you are entitled to withdraw it at any time. Please note that the withdrawal is only effective for the future and that processing that took place before the withdrawal remains lawful. Please also note that we may have to retain certain data for a specific period of time in order to comply with legal requirements, despite your revocation (see "Data erasure" for more details).
Right to object
In cases where we process your personal data on the legal basis of legitimate interest, you have the right to object at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation. We will then no longer process your personal data unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate reasons for continuing the processing which override your interests, rights, and freedoms. This also applies where the processing serves the assertion, exercise, or defence of legal claims.

Furthermore, as a data subject, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you are of the opinion that the processing of your personal data violates data protection provisions. The right of complaint may, in particular, be brought before a supervisory authority in the Member State of the place of your habitual residence, your workplace, or of the place of the alleged infringement.
Automated individual decision-making
As the decision on your employment is not based exclusively on automated processing, no automated decision takes place.
